September [Septiembre] 2026

Autumn (otoño) is officially washing over the countryside. The weather has turned cooler, occasionally rainy, with chilly mornings giving way to warm, pleasant afternoons. We are starting to see some fall color blooming in the woods around town, though there is still a lot of green. But it's in the air for sure.

We harvested the peaches from our tree in the huerto. A friend joked about how small they were, but this poor little tree probably hasn't produced any fruit for years. We had to brace some of the branches they were so laden with peaches. They are pretty and sweet inspite of their size and we're excited. We put them in the freezer until we can get our hands on a kit to make peach wine. The huerto is still producing tomatoes, peppers, squash, and chard. We're prepping for the transition to fall crops, following our neighbors' lead.

The biggest highlight of this past month was celebrating Aeryn’s 12th birthday and my 46th. ¡Feliz Cumpleaños!

Life moves slow and steady these days. We're taking things day by day, enjoying the cooler breezes, and soaking in the cozy turn of the year. Looking forward to tucking in with a book and a blanket.

Hope you all are enjoying lovely autumn weather wherever you are, too
